May I take funerary urns in the airplane with me?

The transport of funerary urns containing cremated human ashes is permitted on LATAM flights both as carry-on and as hold luggage. The transportation of such funerary recipients is subject to the local regulations of each country, and, therefore, you must present the required documentation before the flight.

Please, take into account that funerary urns will be inspected in the security control points before you can reach the departure gates. The urns may be opened by security authorities in that process.

We recommend you contact the Embassy or Consulate of your destination country in order to obtain updated information regarding current requirements by local authorities. If you are flying domestically within Brazil, please contact Anvisa, the Brazilian federal agency responsible for sanitary inspections.
