I am traveling with a minor. What documentation do I need?

If you travel abroad and the minor travels with both parents, the minor will need to have their national identification document or valid passport and family record book or birth certificate. Keep in mind that very few countries permit with just an ID document, we recommend the minor having a passport. Also, if the child is traveling with only only one of his parents, it is necessary to provide an official authorization signed by the other parent. If the minor is traveling alone, it is necessary to provide an official authorization signed by both parents. In addition, some countries require a Visa, which must be processed before the trip begins. Please review the list of requirements according to your nationality* (in English).

Remember that for minors up to age 11 years traveling alone, it is mandatory to contract the service Unaccompanied Minor, which means that LATAM staff will look after him/her during the trip. On international flights, all minors, whether traveling alone or accompanied, must carry with them their birth certificate or family record book. For more information about this service, check our section Children and babies on board.
