LATAM and American Airlines will respect all tickets purchased or redeemed until April 30, 2020, so if you fly after that date, you will not see any changes in your conditions. Given this, the flight, the redemption and accumulation will maintain the conditions set forth in your ticket.
Meanwhile, if you need to make a change to your redeemed ticket on one of the oneworld airlines trips, up until April 30 and regardless of whether the flight is after that date, you can do so subject to flight availability.
However, if you wish to make a change as of May 1, 2020 to your redeemed ticket, you will not be able to make changes to your flight on American Airlines.
On the other hand, if you wish to make a modification for tickets redeemed on LATAM or other airlines with which we have an agreement, the refund of the ticket will be processed, extending the validity of the miles/points, counting from the start date of the ticket trip: 1 year for miles and 2 years for points. In both cases, the process is applied without a penalty fee.
Passengers requesting changes in tickets redeemed with American Airlines from May 1st, to fly from that date on, may make changes to fly on LATAM, or other airlines with which we have frequent flyer agreement, maintaining the origin-destination. If there is no change option, the refund of the redeemed ticket can be processed, extending the validity of the miles/points, starting from the start date of the ticket: 1 year for miles and 2 years for points. In both cases, the process is applied without a penalty fee.
Other options are being considered to be offered to passengers, which will be shared in a timely manner.
Until April 30, LATAM passengers can continue to access the American Airlines VIP lounges. The only airport where LATAM operates and our passengers use the American Airlines VIP lounge is in New York (John F. Kennedy International Airport). Given the LATAM operations change from Terminal 8 to Terminal 4 at that airport since February 1, 2020, access to the Delta VIP lounge will be available. There will be no changes for the rest of the US airports and passengers will be able to continue accessing LATAM and third-party lounges.
Until April 30, 2020 the current conditions regarding accumulation will be maintained with all the airlines of the oneworld alliance, including American Airlines.
We will also respect all the conditions of your tickets, so if your flight is from May 1, but you bought your ticket before that date, you will accumulate miles/points under the conditions specified in your ticket.
At the same time, LATAM works to maintain accumulation of LATAM Pass miles/LATAM Pass Points with most of the airlines of the oneworld alliance, links that we will announce in a timely manner.
The frequent flyer agreement with American Airlines will remain in effect until LATAM Airlines Group leaves the oneworld alliance (on April 30, 2020). As of that date, an AAdvantage member may not earn miles when flying on LATAM, or redeem tickets for LATAM flights. From this date on, AAdvantage members should consult their own program.
